Baier Announces Retirement

Jon Baier, PCSB Bank Clarinda Community President, has recently announced plans for his retirement at the end of May 2025.  This marks 43 years of service in the banking industry, 30 of which were in Clarinda.  “During my time in banking, my greatest blessing is the relationships I have enjoyed with my co-workers, customers and community members.  It’s the people I will miss,” said Baier.  “I want to thank the Clarinda Community for the opportunity to serve them over the last 30 years.”

Jon has been an active member of the community throughout his career, serving on the board of directors and holding various office appointments for the Clarinda Chamber of Commerce, Clarinda Foundation, Clarinda Economic Development and Clarinda Youth Corporation.  In addition, he was also on the Fly Iowa 2005 Committee and the planning committee for numerous Father’s Day Flight Breakfast events.  “Jon is a builder of community and relationships.  His willingness to serve those around him is reflective of who he is and what he believes in,” said James Johnson, CEO.  “We’re grateful for all of the experience, wisdom and leadership that he brought to the bank over the past eight years and wish him the very best.”

Jon has much to look forward to as his retirement draws near.  “On my last day of work, May 30th, my wife, Peg, and I will be celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary,” said Baier.  “After I retire, I’m looking forward to spending more time with family and grandchildren, as well as the flexibility to travel more on mission trips around the US.”

Upon Jon’s retirement, Greg Gard will be the next Clarinda Community President for PCSB.  Greg has 17 years of banking experience and has been an Ag Lender with PCSB for the past 12 years.  “We are both confident and excited for Greg’s leadership as Clarinda Community President,” said Johnson. “Please take the coming months to help us congratulate and support both Jon and Greg through this transition, and make plans to join us this May for a retirement celebration in honor of Jon.”
